What do they have to do to lose your vote? [31 Oct 2008|02:11am]

Howard Zinn, historian and author of The People's History of the United States, said that he was planning to vote for Obama. A few days ago, he emailed Nader admitting that this was a mistake. He now pledges to vote for Nader Gonzalez. He said that because he lives in Mass, a sure thing for Obama (58% to 34%), he is voting for Nader and encourages all who live in slam dunk states (non-swing states) to do the same. Oregon is a sure thing at 53% vs 37%.

If you want to check your state's numbers: http://news.yahoo.com/election/2008/dashboard

If you actually think that anti-palestine, pro-patriot act, pro-death penalty, pro military expansion, corporate puppet Obama is better than Nader, or that the Democrats represent a progressive agenda, check out this essay by Matt Gonzalez:

Please please please do the right thing people. Nader won 2.74% of the popular vote in 2000 but because of the corporate media myth that he spoiled florida for gore (among other things, bush stole florida, this is a fact) he only got 0.38% in 2004. He is now polling around 2 or 3% again. Let's do better than 2000 and send a message to the corporate parties that we haven't gone away. Susan B Anthony didn't live to see women get the right to vote, but she kept fighting. This vote is a statement about what's right. Don't throw your vote away on Barrack Obama.

The new Tinyfolk EP, Jack's Broth, is available for free download from CLLCT:

Get that shit.

Includes covers of David Bowie's Five Years and Gene Chandler's Duke of Earl, two
gay Harry Potter-related love songs about Dumbledore and Grindelwald,
and a song that rhymes the words "antelopes" with "cantaloupes."

Gemini Cricket t-shirts are here! [26 Mar 2008|09:33pm]

Hey everyone! These keen Gemini Cricket ringer tees are selling like hot cakes! A few lucky shirts are making a trip across the Atlantic & Pacific Oceans! If you would like a shirt please let us know asap so we can set aside a few in a reserve pile.

Please read our sizing chart because we have very polarized shirt sizes:

"Tiny Dancer" size: This size is for you tiny little gals ( and kiddo's) out there. It helps if you don't have mondo size boobies because they will be mad-poppin' out of these tees, unless you like it that way...

"Typical Girl" size: This size give you overall more room and more room for your girls. This is a comfy and less clingy size cut for girls.

***For all you real ladies out there we have sizes coming soon for you so stick in there! We didn't know how smal the smalls would be!***
*** Fot all you skinny indie boys...never fear! Size small boy shirts are on the "honey-do" list!***

"HUNK" size: This is the kind of shirt a tiny Dancer could sleep in. It's also the perfect size for you guys around 6' and over 175 lbs. The tags says medium but my heart says "HUNK."

"HULK" size. If you are a super buff and totally ripped Gemini Cricket fan (as most of you are) then this is the shirt size for you! If you wish to make a t-shirt dress then this is the shirt for you. Cut the sleeves off and tie a belt around your waist with this one. You provide the scissors and belt and we will totally crimp your hair!

girl shirtboy shirt
ps, GEMINI CRICKET is a totally awesome band from Athens, Ga

001collective is a brand-new torrent-based music collective of folk, pop and electronic artists who want to share their stuff online for free. My top recommendations are both of Shelby Sifers' albums, Dustin and the Furniture, Secret Owl Society and Errand Boy. Or you can download tinyfolk or whatever (start with the new stuff). Anyway, check that shit out, lots of great free new music there.

Sorry for those who already know this, or if this has been posted about before... but I didn't know that Kurt Cobain had a K shield tattooed on him?

Musician Kurt Cobain had the K Records logo tattooed on his forearm, saying it was to "try and remind me to stay a child." It is mentioned in the song "Lounge Act," which was written about Bikini Kill co-founder, Tobi Vail. ("I'll arrest myself / I'll wear a shield")

It's funny that this would be the only tattoo Kurt ever had, of all things.

Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the Bobby Birdman album that he recorded on a bike ride (Exhausted, The Cost Of)? Is this hard to come by? I'm having trouble finding it.

(Sorry that this isn't exactly K-related)

Records for sale [24 Jun 2007|07:45pm]

once again i'm selling a bunch of my records. There's a catch though, i need the money before Thursday the 28th. If you want something but can't get the money to me by then, email me and we might be able to work something out.

i prefer paypal, but cash and money orders are okay too if you don't have access to paypal.

comment or email me at derek@allthingsordinary.com to make an offer. I'm not looking for ridiculous ebay prices, but i know what things are worth.

Does anyone know the site that had that mix Calvin Johnson made? I originally found the link on the K front page I think. I downloaded it, but I want to find the track list.

Alright, thanks!
